Rick is currently a Director for the Hoover and Dirt Devil brands at TTi Floor Care North America, and head of the video production team leading all video content creation.
Biography
Rick’s passion for film and storytelling began at an early age. He picked up his first camera at the age of 14 and never looked back. Growing up in New Jersey, he battled between two main focuses: video production and baseball. It was the latter that presented him with an opportunity to journey down to North Carolina and play Division 1 Baseball at UNCG while earning a bachelor’s degree in Film & Media Studies.
In between his playing schedule in college, Rick continued to pursue freelance opportunities in the community through short-films, documentaries, sports broadcasting and marketing, commercials and video social media content.
In 2015, Rick moved to Charlotte, NC and joined BURKE, an advertising and integrated marketing agency. Originally the only shooter/editor, Rick since grew the video department through a focus on process, workflow and quality. With his versatile filmmaking background, Rick would commonly adjust his production role to best suit the project’s needs: as Producer, Director, DP, Editor, Colorist, VFX or Motion Designer.
As Director of Video Production at the agency, the department tripled its revenue in Rick’s first two years at the position. Rick also led the implementation of vital Post-Production infrastructure, launched lead-generation and on-boarded key employees for growth. Rick’s responsibilities also included client relationship, project management, and creative oversight for video projects. In his time at BURKE, Rick gathered over a dozen awards and accolades.
In 2020, Rick began freelancing as a Commercial Director, DP, Producer and Editor to further grow in his career as a creative professional, broadening his skillsets and increasing his Charlotte network.
In June of 2020, Rick joined the video production team at TTI Floor Care in Charlotte, NC as Video Production Manager. The company’s family of brands and household names such as Hoover, Dirt Devil and Oreck offer a variety of projects ranging from national OTT spots to organic social content in which Rick helps direct, produce and edit. Bringing previous post production experience to the role, Rick was able to craft new post-production guidelines and processes to allow for future volume that was expected of the business.
In 2021, Rick assisted in the initiative to streamline TTi’s production studio space and ultimately craft capabilities for simultaneous in-studio and on-location productions. Throughout the year, Rick served as the in-studio director, directing over 80 videos, ranging from product features, instructional, and social campaign videos, while also pivoting between roles as editor and colorist.
In 2022, Rick was promoted to Sr. Creative Manager, Video Production and tasked with leading the video team at TTi, managing a team through concept-to-completion of video content across OTT, paid ads, social media, and product display pages. Through Rick’s leadership the team was able to scale the volume of video deliverables by 300% YOY with a focus on advertising paid social content. Rick also spearheaded Dirt Devil’s rebrand through visual expression, crafting a new look and feel for how the brand was differentiated in video marketing. For his efforts, Rick was chosen as a Circle of Excellence Award recipient by Leadership in 2022.
