Food Lion wanted to create an engaging way to reach audiences for its Fandango partnership to provide customers with movie tickets for the Holiday season. We were challenged to capture the spirit of the holidays while also attracting attention to their in-store promotion. We wholeheartedly accepted the challenge and wrote, directed, produced, filmed, animated, and even baked our way into a trilogy of videos that creatively combined live action with animation.
Our approach was to tease audiences as the event drew closer, by adding onto the story every week leading up to the campaign with each segment ending on a cliffhanger to increase audience engagement and viewership. The story follows a gingerbread couple that gets ‘baked’ to life and joins their kitchen friends in bring the kitchen to life at night. Particularly challenging and exciting was the mix of live-action and 3D animated characters, which required a well orchestrated post-production workflow.
The campaign would gain over 750,000 total views on top of a successful promotion. Additionally, the series would go on to win a Silver Addy Award and a Bronze Telly Award for Branded Content.
